I have been to many gyms and workout facilities all over the world, but I have never seen a gym like this. The Virginia G. Piper Sports & Fitness Center for Persons with Disabilities (SpoFit) is by far the most amazing gym that caters to people with disabilities. Everything is beyond handicap accessible - there are wide open spaces, huge bathrooms, and ample privacy in changing areas.

SpoFit is a 45,000-square foot, state-of-the-art facility located in Phoenix, AZ. It offers a wide variety of amenities to help disabled athletes achieve their health and fitness goals. There is a fitness center with wheelchair accessible weight machines, an aquatic area equipped with lifts and elevators, and accessible locker rooms.

As we went on a tour, I took many pictures while still trying to focus on listening to the history of this facility and learning about what it took to build this mega gym. It is truly remarkable. They have many inspirational pictures of people with disabilities all over, along with special display cases that highlight superior disabled athletes in all sports.

I was there for Morph Wheels by Maddak, to give a demo, lead fitness seminars, talk, sign autographs, and pose for pictures. The people were so nice and caring. When they saw how the Morph Wheels work they were very impressed with their flexibility and convenience. Maddak had actually been to SpoFit as one of the locations they visited during the development process for the Morph Wheel. They held focus groups and really listened to the community and their needs. This was a special moment for me to be able to come into this facility to see a different perspective of how others see the disabled community, especially in a mega gym like this - truly an eye opener.
